Class info
At Flying Paws, our goal is to work smart and have fun!
We have several classes available for you, from beginning to more advanced. In each class, we will work on specific skills that are the building blocks of a successful agility career for you and your dog. To find out when our next round of classes is starting, please check our calendar.
Pre-Agility
This six-week class introduces the basic commands for a handler and dog to work as a team. We’ll work on skills such as sit, down, stay, basic handling maneuvers and shaping behavior.
The class lasts six weeks and costs $60. Dogs must be at least 8-months-old to participate.
Agility 1
This eight-week class introduces the basics of handling on the flat: Pull, Push, Front Cross, Rear Cross. We’ll also introduce obstacles at low height: dog walk, jumps, tire, table, tunnel, and chute. You’ll work with your dog as a team, teaching them to enjoy movement under their feet on a tippy board or low teeter board. You’ll also learn the basics of contact behavior with targets and practice the “two-on, two-off” with a contact trainer. Cost: $80
Agility 2
At this level, you will work on over eight weeks: weave poles via 2X2 or slant-pole method, getting your dog comfortable on the teeter, obstacle independence and sending to tunnels and chutes. We’ll work on basic handling in between obstacles in sequence. Contact behaviors are decided upon and practiced during sequences. You’ll also be introduced to double and triple jumps. Cost: $80
Agility 3
Dogs and handlers teams will be taught to navigate a course using basic handling before, during and after obstacles. Dogs are school on weave poles and teeter performances. You’ll practice contact behavior during all sequences. Also in this class, we will introduce advanced handling, such as forward and lateral sends. Cost: $80
Agility 4
This class will be geared for those ready to compete or already competing. Here you and your dog will work on complex sequences involving lots of handling. We’ll also discuss games from the various venues and will practice one each class. Weave pole entries will be increasingly complex as well. The class will last eight weeks. Cost: $80
Agility 5
At this level, the type and length of class will vary as speciality classes on a rotating level. Classes will focus on a specific skill each session, including weave poles, clicker basics, two-on-two, and many more. These classes, which will be of varying length, are open to anyone who has attended Agility 1. Cost will depend on length of class.

Hello! My daughters Madison and Cheyenne trained with you last year in an intermediate class we had the German Shorthairs. They all did well in 4H this year with Cheyenne winning her class with Bear and Madison getting third in her’s with Gretta. Cheyenne went to the State Fair and learned that she has further work to do to be competative. I was wondering if you have an advanced off leash class that we can try out (Agility 4 or 5?). You can send an email at kitcoff@bluemarble.net or call on my cell 317-4077139. Thanks V/R Louie Kitcoff
