Introduction to Obstacles

Dogs 6 months and older
Current on all vaccinations

Introduction to Obstacles is for dogs with no prior experience with agility. We introduce the handlers and dogs to agility handling techniques as well as the various obstacles. We use all manner of positive motivation to create a fun and happy atmosphere for all dogs participating.

Intro II

Dogs 9 months and older
Current on all vaccinations

The Intro II class is set up to work more on obstacle independence for each dog and handler team.  Focus is on off-leash obstacle work and varied entries to obstacles.  Weaves will be introduced as well as basic handling skills.

Also, be prepared to arrive early and assist with setting up equipment that will be needed for your class.  Assisting with equipment set up is a huge part of agility, so be prepared to be asked to help set up those items which will be needed for that day's class.

Sequencing Obstacles

Dogs 15 months and older
Current on all vaccinations

Sequencing Obstacles is for dogs who are comfortable on all equipment and are ready for work on short sequences and that can work off-leash with distractions including other dogs in the ring.  Focus will be on handling skills while also continuing to teach the dog and handler more about obstacles, handling and varied obstacle approaches.

Also, be prepared to arrive early and assist with setting up equipment that will be needed for your class.  Assisting with equipment set up is a huge part of agility, so be prepared to be asked to help set up those items which will be needed for that day's class.

One-on-One Session

Dogs 6 months and older
Current on all vaccinations

One on One Sessions are 15 minute sessions set up with an instructor on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Sundays at least 24 hours in advance.  These sessions will give handlers and their dogs an opportunity to set up a short, intensive training time with an instructor to work on specific skills.

These sessions can be set up to work on a skill that is difficult for the team to do during class, or for that particular skill that you need more help with.  They are up to the student and instructor to set up and determine the subject of.

The instructor that is teaching that days class or running that Sunday's Open Practice, will be the instructor you will want to set up the time with.  You can ask your instructor what skill they feel you need more work with, but you as the handler need to begin to recognize those skills that are a weak point of you and your canine team.

Also, be prepared to arrive early and assist with setting up equipment that will be needed for your session.  Helping to set equipment and help out is a huge part of agility, so be prepared to be asked to help set up those items which will be needed for your session.

Open Practice

Dogs 9 months and older
Current on all vaccinations

Open Practice is for those dogs comfortable on equipment and are ready to begin competing or already are competing. Open Practices allow you to practice skills learned in class as well as work on challenges set up.

Agility is a skill/game with your dog that takes practice to get proficient. Agility is not a skill that can be learned in one class. If your dog is not highly food motivated, then I suggest do not feed him/her until after class. Or if you use a toy as a reward for your dog, please bring his/her favorite along!!

Future classes and skill levels will be added as interest and the club grows!

We welcome human guests--either family/friends of students, or prospective students--at all regularly scheduled Flying Paws classes or open practices. You might want to bring a chair, as there is no provided seating near our training ring.

If you would like to bring your dog to observe a class, please contact us first. In rare cases, we might not be able to accommodate canine vistors for a specific session. Please note that in no case will any dog be allowed in the training ring, or on any obstacles, other than dogs belonging to members, dogs currently enrolled in a class, or dogs who have a pre-arranged private lesson or evaluation scheduled with one of our trainers. All dogs enrolled in classes are only allowed on equipment while supervised during classes.
